Practicing portraits with my brother...aka "the Stabe". This one was my favorite. Anyways, there is this fantastic place over by us called the Prosser Pines. It is like 56 acres of just pine trees. It feels so surreal in there. I plan on going there a lot this summer...especially to take pictures. If your looking to be transported from Long Island just come here for an hour or so :o) Thanks Stabe for your patience...you came out great!Thursday, April 30, 2009

A Tale of Driftwood

So this past Monday Tim had off (Hooray!!!) and we took a little jaunt way out East. We went all the way out to Greenpoint and didn't even get out of the car! Sadly, it was way too cold. You might say that we had premature Spring expectations or vain imaginings of taking a stroll down the charming sea faring sidewalks with a lush spring breeze at our backs. HA! Try temps in the low 40's with a wind chill making it feel like the 30's. Anyways, on the way back home we found this tiny private beach. Some of you might know that we collect driftwood but this piece by far is the largest in our collection (mind you, I had NO idea where this monstrous piece was going to go in our apartment... leave it to Tim though...he found a place). As you can tell from the pictures I think my dear Timothy needs to get out more...the pure joy and ecstasy he had from finding this water washed piece of wood had me laughing so hard. The thing didn't even fit in our more than substantially sized trunk! Instead it was crammed into the back seat (did I mention it weighs like 30lbs!) Aside from the size, I had visions of sand fleas and termites conveniently making their way into our nice warm apartment, festering and making themselves quite at home. Well, so far so good the wood is dried out and is standing proudly in the one corner of our apartment that hasn't been utilized yet (no pests as of this moment). My love for the driftwood is great because I greatly love the man who braved the freezing cold and ran through the sand with 30lbs of weathered telephone poll (aka "driftwood") over his shoulder. I'll treasure it, and the memory, forever :o)

Hi Everyone! It would be really wonderful if all the fellow bloggers from Long Island Baptist could put these videos of Pastor on their blog, maybe even just add a link leading to the libaptist YouTube site. Every week there will be new videos on different topics. We can all help spread the gospel this way. These 10 minute videos are priceless. The more people who view them the better! Thanks so much!

Calling all Midnight Snackers

First and foremost thank you to all who participated in the poll :o) Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that snacking late at night is not really that bad for you. Just as long as you don't exceed your 2,000 calories for that day. Also, the "snack" should be low in calorie.
Here were some suggested snacks for anyone with the midnight munchies. Oh and keep in mind that another quick fix (for those who need something sweet...and not just fruit) are those 100 calorie snack packs. It worked for me :o)
Bedtime Snacks for Adults–
6-8 oz container of non-fat, flavored yogurt topped with 2 tablespoons low-fat granola cereal–Sliced apple with 1-2 teaspoons natural peanut butter–3 cups low-fat popcorn – sprinkled with optional 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
Bedtime Snacks for Teens–
One cup healthy cereal with skim milk–Low-fat granola bar–Scoop of vanilla or strawberry low-fat ice cream
Bedtime Snacks for Children–
1/2 cup low-fat vanilla pudding–1/2 banana with 1-2 teaspoons peanut butter –One cup skim milk with a bunch of grapes (or other fruit)
There you have it!

Now That's A lot of Chocolate!

In the spirit of Valentines Day (just 2 weeks away) Here is a chocolate construction that is sure to impress.
Artist Angelo Feduzzi chiseled 17,600lbs of chocolate to create this 35ft high Big Ben clock.
Feduzzi had to put in two weeks of hard work to build this chocolate tower. Being the best part of the festival, the clock will stand for the rest of the week before it is finally wedged up and treated out to the public. This was done in December so it's long gone by now. Due the very cold temperatures at the time there was no concern that the stucture would melt. Pretty cool, right?

I saw another blog doing this and I thought it was a great idea! I'm calling it my flea market for bloggers. It's kind of like an online yard sale. Selling stuff without the Ebay fees is GREAT! I hope it works. Come check it out! There are only 2 items up right now but I'll be adding more soon!

Looks Can Be Deceiving

Moussaka - A Greek Dish.
One of my resolutions was to make one exotic meal a month. Well, here it is. I always wanted to try it so I thought...why not make it?
As messy and mushy as it looks it was surprisingly delicious. A very different flavor all in all. I would definitely make it again and Tim would definitely eat it again :o)
Food plating was done by Tim. Hehehe.
